About the studio

   Strut Fitness & Dance has been changing lives all over Calgary since we were established in November 2012. Having a strong passion to teach dance and fitness first, then pole, we found places to teach out of in Calgary. Finally, in June 2013 we found our home Studio on 16th Avenue NE and opened as Strut Fitness on July 1st,  2013.

   We believe that fitness is not a hobby, but a way of life. We founded our studio to be the second home for all of our customers. Whether you exercise everyday, or you’ve never stepped into a boutique fitness studio before, Strut Fitness & Dance can help shape the new you. We want to be your next workout partner. Booty, Barre, & Bands

Low Impact

Join us for Barre Fitness and exercise your way to a healthy and toned body. Barre fitness is a fusion of cardio, Pilates, yoga, stretching and strength training. We use high reps with small range of motion to isolate your muscles. This class is designed to increase stamina and create long lean muscles. Get shapely shoulders, tight abs and butt.

Strength & Flexibility

Get Flexible

Get strong and flexible. In this class you will find yourself using techniques such as PNF stretching, ballistic stretching, calisthenics and ballet conditioning. Our focus is to improve lines and develop skills that will allow the dancer to achieve more advanced moves.

4 Class Series - Intro To Pole

Pole Fundamentals

Always wanted to try pole fitness? This is the place to start. In this series you will learn the fundamentals of pole, addressing pole safety, body safety, along with moves to create a fun routine. In this 4 series pole class you will add moves each class. By the time the 4 weeks are over you will have a full routine. Joins a series today! You will be glad you did.

5 Class Series Burlesque Choreography Troop

Dance Class

Don't have dance experience but want to try burlesque? In this 5 class series we learn slow sexy dance moves that get your hips moving and boost confidence. This is a series based class adding moves each week consisting of consecutive classes weekly. We will take you through a dance warm-up then bring out the props for a dance routine. A fun way to introduce yourself to a burlesque dance and a workout. So much fun you won’t realize its exercise. Feel comfortable in your skin, have fun and let your hair down.

PiYo Live (R)

Find Your Core

This class is an ALL fitness levels class that focuses on building and strengthening your core muscles. PiYo Live (R) combines the muscle-sculpting, core strengthening benefits of Pilates with the strength and flexibility of flowing yoga movements. You'll perform a series of high-intensity, low-impact moves that will work every single muscle for a long, lean, and incredibly defined physique  .

 Pole Cardio Fitness

Cardio Style Dance

Join us for this drop-in independent style pole class. (pole dance) This class focuses on using the pole as a tool for a cardio based class. We add all aspects of pole fitness into this cardio and strength based class. Each class is independent on its own so you do not need to attend a class prior to, to jump into a one of these classes.

Dancer's Stretch

Flexibility Class

Dancer's Flexibility Class
If you’re looking to get your flexibility to the next level this class is for you. A full body stretch class with a focus on releasing the hips, working towards side and centre splits. This class is ideal to take before other classes as it will warm you up, safely stretch your entire body, and help your flexibility gains. 

5 Class Dance Series

New Dance & Traditional Style Dance

Lets get sassy! This class teaches a fast-paced mix of traditional burlesque, jazz, and hip-hop  We  work on dancing in heels and bringing sassy characterization to your dancing. Each session is a new song and may add props into the routines. No dance experience is needed.

Gain Strength & Skills

Our staff are all professionals with years of fitness experience. We have a lot of certified instructors and classes for you to choose from. Each Instructor brings their own fitness specialty and unique training style, but all are committed to ensuring safe and effective workouts. Our pole classes are progressive levels. We realize that each individuals journey takes a different path so we have skill based pole levels. These levels are designed to ensure each student acquires the necessary skills and confidence prior to moving onto the next level. We also recognize that along with skills, students want to explore other classes that compliment static pole skills, so we offer spin pole, lyrical or choreography classes, exotic, and specialty workshops.

Intro to Pole 4 Class Series

Following Intro to Pole

New to pole? Not sure where to start? ALL of our students start with Intro to Pole 4 Class Series. This is a 4 class series where you will learn the fundamentals, safety and transitions over the classes. Each class adds onto the next so when you are done you have a full routine. This class is 4 consecutive weeks same day, time each week. This class prepares you for pole. Once completed then you can take Beginner pole classes. If you are not sure where to start this is the class to start your pole fitness journey.  This pass has its own special price $79 or can be part of a membership.

Prerequisite: None

New Beginner Pole I

Following Intro to Pole

This class follows the intro to pole series. This is a move based class. Pole swings, spins, and transitions will be learned each class. This is a class designed to work on movements including swings, spins, and the in & outs of each to gain strength. This is an ongoing class. A student must demonstrate strong skills and be evaluated PRIOR to moving into Beginner  Pole II Level Pole. (No routine in this level) A student can also do the Beginner Choreography, Beginner Erotic once this level is completed.

Prerequisite: Intro to Pole Series 

Beginner Pole II

Following Beginner Pole I

This class follows the Beginner Pole ! series. This is a move based class. Pole swings, spins, and transitions will be learned each class. This is a class designed to work on movements including swings, spins, and the in & outs of each to gain strength. This is an ongoing class. A student must demonstrate strong skills and be evaluated PRIOR to moving into Beginner  II. (No routine in this level) A student can also do the Beginner Choreography, Beginner Erotic once this  Prerequisite: New Beginner Pole I Skills

Amateur Pole

Life is better Upside Down

This Follows the Beginner Pole II. Feeling strong and confident with the spins and movements learned in the beginner levels we will now go upside down. This is a class designed to work on movements such as split grip and single arm swings, spins, climbs, sits, and inversions. We will learn various in & outs and mini combos of different movements. Our focus is to gain strength and skills. This is an ongoing class. A student will demonstrate strong skills prior to moving into Intermediate Level Pole. A student can also do the Spin Pole classes once they are comfortable with inversions. Please note: Any student away from pole more than 60 days is required to be evaluated before registering into a pole class, this ensures student safety and ability.

Prerequisite: Beginner II movements skill mastery.

Intermediate Pole

Fun Poses Upside Down!

This Follows the Amateur Pole class. Now that you have learned to invert and have gained confidence having your feet above your head, we focus on learning some fun shapes and poses while upside-down! You will also continue to learn more skills. It is completely normal to have to remain in this this level for awhile in order to master all the skills taught. You can also at this time add the Spin pole classes. This is a class designed to work on inversions single arm swings, aerial combos, aerial conditioning, focusing on the in & outs and mini aerial combos of each to gain strength. This is an ongoing class. A student will demonstrate strong skills prior onto moving into Advance Prep Level Pole. Please note: Any student away from pole more than 60 days is required to be evaluated before registering into a pole class, this ensures student safety & ability.

Prerequisite: Amateur Pole Skill Mastery.

Prep Advance Pole

Aerial Acrobatic Movements

This Follows the Intermediate Pole.( Formally Known As Pole Intermediate III-IV). This class is for those who can dead lift into inversions, and fell comfortable with aerial combinations. These classes will focus on static pole moves as well as transitions in and out of those moves allowing you to link together some interesting combinations. There is a jump in difficulty as you enter this level and more focus is placed on higher level conditioning to help you succeed. This is an ongoing class. A student will demonstrate strong skills and be evaluated prior to moving into this level of Pole. Please note: Any student away from pole more than 60 days is required to be evaluated before registering into a pole class, this ensures student safety and ability.

Prerequisite: Intermediate Pole Skill Mastery

Advance Pole

Most Difficult

This Follows the Pole Prep Advance Movement class Formally Known As Pole Intermediate V. This is a class for those who have a solid shoulder mount, handspring, and cartwheel. Expect to learn higher level strength moves, extreme flexibility moves, dynamic pole combos, interesting transitions, mount and dismount variation. This is an ongoing class. A student will demonstrate strong skills and be evaluated prior to moving into this level of Pole. Please note: Any student away from pole more than 60 days is required to be evaluated before registering into a pole class, this ensures ability.

Prerequisite: Pole Prep Advance Skill Mastery.

Spin Pole

Spinning Pole

Now that you are getting comfortable on the static pole, come get dizzy with us in Spin! This class will teach you the basics of spin. You will see how technique differs from static, what muscles to engage, and how to control your momentum. We will go over some of the same moves you have learned on the static pole but also teach some fun spin pole specific moves. Combinations on spin pole will be taught and combined into a flow which will focus on technique, stamina, poise and proper movement. You will learn how to take smaller combos learned in class and create beautiful routines. You must be in Amatuer Pole or above and be comfortable with pole climbs and going upside-down.

Lyrical Pole Choreography

Lyrical Pole

In this class, you will learn to fuse pole movements and tricks with lyrical dance. This class will focus on bringing together the grace of dance movements and the strength of pole to create powerful, emotionally captivating routines, while increasing your fluidity of movements and transitions on and off the pole. dance class focused in cardio and strength conditioning and pole choreography. Students will learn mini routines or combos each class. These routines will include different level swings, climbs, spin pole, holds and floor work. Our goal is to improve body control in a fun way. Should be comfortable with climbs, holds and lifts and be in Intermediate Pole or higher.

Aerial Training Levels

Aerial Hammock Play

Catering to our pole students, and those who like the idea of being upside down we offer aerial hammock aerial classes. In order for you to build your skills we offer level classes that are routine based. Start with out Intro series and work you way up.

Aerial Play

Get you feet off the floor!

Love to be upside down in the hammock? But necessarily all of the yoga poses? This class is Aerial Play. The instructor will take you a series of moves helping to increase your upside down flexilbilty and have fun. Great class for those who need to cross train for pole or for those who just want to be upside down. This is a class that is more about the inversions and the pretty moves. Please when taking any inversion class look over our health questionnaire to see of this class is right for you. No Experience necessary come try it out. Only Prerequisite is Intro to Aerial Play Trial Class This is not a Yoga style class. Please Note: Contradications to aerial yoga: Individuals with these conditions or health statuses should not be practicing aerial yoga. If you are unsure consult your physician. -Pregnant women -recent surgery -recent concussion or head trauma -severe osteoporosis -hand injury (large cut or a fracture) -glaucoma -uncontrolled hypertension -extreme obesity -endometriosis

Erotic silks: beginner erotic silks choreography. No experience required. Done in aerial hammock.

Aerial Core

Full Body Conditioning

In this class we use the aerial hammock. Build core strength and endurance using inversion and your own body weight. Long sleeves and pants recommended. A fun way to build strength or cross train for pole. All fitness levels welcome. Drop-in Style Class

Aerial Fit

Go For It!

In this class we use the aerial hammock. This class is a combination of Pilates, strength training and acrobatics. Aerial Fit is the best of both worlds. Focus is on strengthening the core and upper body through targeted exercises on the Aerial hammock. Class will end with flexibility training. A fun way to build strength or cross train for pole. Routine based classes

Join us for routine based series classes to learn new skills and put some old ones together. These are flow style classes designed to put movements together in a fun dance like manner. When registering into these classes you are registering into full series.

Erotic Pole

It’s More than Sit Ups

Grab your heels and get ready to unleash your sexy side. This class series is about sensual floor and pole flow movement. Learn floor fundamentals and transitions. Floor work can be hard on knees feel free to bring knee pads, leggings, and shoulder covering also encouraged. Please note: When registering into this class you are registering into full series.

Beginner Pole Routines 1 & 2

Get Your Heart Working

For those who have completed Intro to Pole And/Or Beginner pole and want to use those new moves and put them together to flow. Each of these are a 6 series pole routine class. Each class will add onto the next. New swings and new transitions that keep you moving and build your confidence up. Still take it slow to ensure proper muscle recruitment and explanation but fast enough to have fun and gain strength. Once you are registered in the first class you are registered in the whole series. Prerequisite: Beginner Pole Movements & Intro to Pole

Burlesque Routines

Go For It!

Always wanted to learn burlesque style dance? Join us for one of our dance class series. Have fun learning the shimmy and hip moving routines. Props may be added to some routines. Pole-Esque

Hot N' Heels A Combination of Burlesque & Pole

We combined our two favorite classes in a burlesque style class in which we use the pole as a prop. This is a mix of floor, pole, and burlesque moves. A Fun and flirty to workout. No pole experience is necessary. Beginners are welcome. Please note:When registering into this class you are registering into full series.
